Dear Students,
Student Government is aware of public reports regarding the possible introduction of a mandatory one-time student fee of 110,000 KZT and its potential connection to course registration.
At no point has Student Government been formally consulted on this matter. We have also been never formally informed.
We understand that a financial requirement of this scale, introduced on such short notice, would directly affect students and their families. We are especially concerned by reports that nonpayment could restrict course registration, which may create serious academic consequences under current registration requirements.
Student Government believes that no major mandatory student fee should be introduced without reasonable notice, transparent justification, payment flexibility, and meaningful student representation in the decision-making process.
We are urgently seeking clarification from university leadership on:
1. Whether the fee has been approved.
2. Which students would be required to pay and in what amount.
3. Whether registration access would be restricted for nonpayment.
4. What legal basis supports the fee.
5. How the amount was calculated.
6. What exemptions, appeals, or payment options would exist.
7. How the collected funds would be used.
In conversations, Student Government will call on university leadership to suspend any implementation of this fee for the upcoming academic year and to ensure that students are not blocked from registration while these questions remain unresolved.
To demonstrate the collective stance of the Student Body, we have prepared the official petition.
